Yes, Hillsboro is a major improvement for the residents. That traffic calming project is comparable to what has happened in other local towns — Upperville, Middleburg, Alfieris, etc. Those towns are significantly larger than Rectortown with much higher traffic volumes. Accordingly and unfortunately, the Virginia Department of Transportation, which is responsible for all of the roads, is simply not going to spend multi million dollars to make make any traffic calming improvements in Rectortown.
The speeding on Atoka and Rectortown Roads drives me crazy, just as it does to everyone else in Rectortown. I also am frustrated by the “fact” that state laws allow tractor-semitrailers with 102”-wide axles to operate on our 96”-wide roads in Rectortown. Such a situation is both unsafe and beyond belief.
